2015 Tempranillo

West Cape Howe WinesVintage Description: TASTING NOTES to come
Winemaking Information:Our Tempranillo is a blend of fruit from the Perth Hills and Frankland. For the 2015 vintage there’s a higher percentage from the Perth Hills as yields were very low in Frankland after their devastating hail storm. Happily, this coincided with it being a very strong vintage in the Perth Hills due to their moderate weather; the Tempranillo came in in excellent condition, with good depth of colour and clean vibrant fruit characters with its typical varietal earthiness. After a traditional fermentation the wine spent 9 months in older French oak barriques before bottling in April 2016.
Fruit Source:Perth Hills and Frankland River
Colour:A crimson red of medium density.
Aroma:Distinctively spicy plum fruit aromas with hints of dark cherry and dusty oak characters.
Palate:Medium bodied with dusty, dark, tamarillo fruit flavours. The spicy, savoury fruit flavours are well balanced by the drying tannins from the fruit astringency and from oak maturation. Has good palate length and will improve with further bottle age. Great served with a slow braised meat dish.
